Loxcare is a Community Centre which is open to people of all ages, targetting those most disadvantaged in our community. Between 150 and 200 people a week would visit the Centre which has a variety of programs including a communal lunch, sale of donated second hand goods (clothing, household items, furniture and other items people no longer want), practical assistance, and a sewing room. Loxcare is operated by a voluntary staff of over thirty people, who vary in ages from early 20s to late 80s.

David has always been very pleasant mannered at Loxcare. Many of our volunteers are older people, in their sixties, seventies and eighties and David is able to relate well to people in this age group. Recently David was undertaking a voluntary placement with a local nursing home where an ex-volunteer lived. On his own initiative, David arranged to bring the volunteer to Loxcare for a visit, to see fellow volunteers and customers who had missed him. Being frial, he needed a lot of support. David supervised the visit, ensuring the ex-volunteer was comfortable and had a seat wherever he went. The ex-volunteer really enjoyed the outing and contact with some old friends. David showed a lot of initiative and caring to organise this.

As Loxcare's programs have not specifically involved children, I have not had many opportunities to observe David's interactions with children. However, when there have been children in the centre when David has been here, he has interacted well with them.
